Who are we?
Yuzu was created in 2018 by a group of developers behind a company called “Tropic Haze LLC”, The same team that created Citra, the 3DS emulator. The main developer driving the force on the development of Yuzu in the early days was known as “bunnei”. There were a lot of similarities in the codebase shared between Yuzu and the Citra project due to the developers being mostly the same and how these emulators work. Yuzu got a lot of traction over time and started adding more features and improvements such as Multiplayer for games, Enhanced Support for Switch games, Nvidia and AMD GPU support and game transfers.
Yuzu is an open-source project, meaning that it is free. It is developed in C++ and licensed under GPLv2 so the emulation community could collaborate on the project. Yuzu supports 3 major platforms including Windows, Linux and Android, making it a very desirable and popular Switch emulator among the community. It is now officially discontinued and no longer developed, updated or supported. Support for the Yuzu Emulator stopped in March 2024 when the developers were sued by Nintendo and had to settle a lawsuit of $2.4 Million.
Once the official Yuzu repositories were taken down, the source code was made a copy of and forked by a group called “Suyu”. The developers said that they have many different opportunities from what they can do with the fork of Yuzu they are currently developing.
The website (yuzu-emulator.net) was created as a fan-made website for preservation, educational, informational and archiving reasons only. We are not affiliated/linked with the original developers of Yuzu and Nintendo. Here you will find various information regarding this project such as Screenshots, How it was installed, Downloads, and a detailed FAQ section.
